An addictive chile-lime mix for dusting fresh fruit, popcorn and even the rims of cocktail glasses.

Dip your raw, fresh cut fruits and vegetables into Stardust for a peppy zap of chile and citrus. Stardust is a mixture of medium-heat dry New Mexican chiles and herbs and spices. Apples, jicama, mangoes, bananas, cucumber, carrots and even radishes feel at home taking a dip into this happy powder. Late night snacks become healthy and crudité appetizer plates become star players when you serve Stardust.

Simply place some Stardust into a bowl and dip away. You can also finish a bowl of beans, popcorn, stew or soup with a light dusting of Stardust with delicious results.

Please note: We do not add any artificial ingredients, so caking is natural. If the mixture begins to cake or clump, it is still perfectly fine to eat—we recommend shaking the jar to loosen the powder.

Stardust ingredients: dried chiles, crystallized lime, brown sugar, sea salt, and Mexican oregano.

"I don't usually call out a brand but I don't think you can discount the importance of Rancho Gordo in all of this."

Best Chili Lime seasoning out there!

This is great, love it on tomatoes, fruits, corn, baked potatoes with butter and Stardust. Why, oh why, is this not available in bulk?? I already have the bottle, just want to refill it!

Puts Tajin to SHAME!

You might be like I was, thinking that this is just a fancy version of the ubiquitous Tajin that's in every grocery store here in Southern California. I've had it. It's good. I was SO WRONG. Stardust Dipping Powder is bursting with fresh lime flavor! The chile and spices are perfectly balanced. The combination is magical and transformative. I am ashamed that I even thought Stardust would resemble a commercial product, given the commitment to high quality and supreme flavor Rancho Gordo is...More

Star Dust Chile Dipping Powder

I love the beans and all products from Rancho Gordo until I received the Chile Dipping Powder. The lime overwhelms everything I have tried it on. The chile can hardly be detected with a geiger counter, and chile is wants sparks my interest.

Leads with lime, then complex flavors follow

Yes, this product has a powerful lime kick, but it no way overwhelms. The chile is very detectable. The lime explodes on the tongue, THEN the salt and chile, and other flavorings, kick in on the finish. This is exquisite.

I'm addicted!

I was intrigued when I saw Stardust and decided to order it. I'm now finding myself trying to figure out what to eat with it. The lime pops and the chili mildly follows. It's wonderful.

The Rancho Gordo Story

You Can Blame it All on the Dutch

I was shopping one August for tomatoes and, despite Napa being one of the world's most magnificent agricultural regions, all the tomatoes were from a hothouse in Holland! Worse, they were hard and pale pink instead of the ripe tomatoes I was craving. I started to grow my own tomatoes and this eventually led to beans.

My first harvested heirloom bean was Rio Zape. They were pretty and easy to grow but I had no idea what to expect when I cooked them. They were similar to the pintos I liked but there was so much more going on. Hints of chocolate and coffee mixed with an earthy texture made my head spin. I was blown away by Rio Zape and the other heirloom beans I was growing, but also really confused why they were such a big secret. I took the beans to the farmers market, organizing things on my kitchen table. Soon there was a warehouse, followed by more markets and mail order. It seems we had struck a nerve. People agreed that heirloom beans were worth saving, growing and cooking. Currently our warehouse, a retail shop, and offices are in Napa, California, and a stop here is part of many tours of the wine country.

All of my agricultural pursuits have been based on being someone who likes to cook but gets frustrated by the lack of ingredients, especially those that are native to the Americas. One of the things that originally drew me to beans was the fact that they are indigenous to the Americas. It seems to me these indigenous ingredients should be familiar, if not common. American cuisine is re-inventing itself and I'd love to include ingredients, traditions and recipes from north and south of the border as part of the equation. I love the concept of The Americas. I feel as if it's just as important as the European heritage many of us share.
