Freeze your beans (or soup, or whatever you like!) in the perfect portions.

Inspired perhaps by traditional ice cube trays, these extra large, well-marked silicone trays hold good things like cooked beans for the freezer. Four 1-cup segments in each tray can be popped out and placed in a freezer bag until needed.

Imagine the convenience of a one-cup cube of beans ready to use at a moment's notice. You don't even have to defrost them. Place in a pan over low heat and stir until they're ready to be enjoyed or use in another recipe. Souper Cubes are especially handy for that last cup or so out of your pot of beans that you don't quite know what to do with. Freeze them, pals!

NEED!

My husband is not a huge bean fan and while possible, I don't need to eat a whole pot of beans in a week. By using souper cubes, I can make a pot of beans and then have a variety in my freezer of smaller servings. We of course also use these for other things like freezing fresh lemon juice in winter to make lemonade in the summer, chili (of course with Rancho Gordo beans), and occasionally soups. Love these!

These make freezing liquid ingredients a snap

I've been using Souper Cubes for a few years, and they are one of my favorite kitchen gadgets. They are very well designed, with a stiff rim that keeps them stable, and the silicone compartments make it easy to pop the frozen food out. Although I've used them to store frozen food in the freezer, I usually freeze food in them, pop it out, then vacuum seal the frozen cubes for easy long-term storage. After a quick rinse, they go in the top rack of my dishwasher for easy cleaning. I especially...More

Love it!

My favorite bean soup recipe makes a TON of soup that is a bit much even for bean aficionados like us. These souper cubes make freezing half of the yield a snap. It is easy to get the frozen cubes out to defrost and the high quality silicon construction gives me peace of mind that plastic isn’t leaching into my food. When I’m short on time for cooking, a high quality meal is just a defrost away. I love and recommend these cubes to my family and friends.

Beans Always Ready and Waiting

I love these silicon freezer trays. Cook a pound of beans for a recipe that requires only half and freeze the remainder (with a bit of broth) in individual bricks. Pop out the bean bricks and store in silicon bags (one bag for light beans, one bag for dark). Freeze the bulk of the broth separately for future soup stock.

A convient useful food saver

So glad I bought this product when it was still in stock. Super useful for saving food for future just-my-size meals. Pot beans with broth, refried beans, soups/stews, casseroles, even fruit juices. It's a long standing habit for me to cook and freeze extra food for lunches, snacks and quick meals. Useful and needed product in my kitchen.

The Rancho Gordo Story

You Can Blame it All on the Dutch

I was shopping one August for tomatoes and, despite Napa being one of the world's most magnificent agricultural regions, all the tomatoes were from a hothouse in Holland! Worse, they were hard and pale pink instead of the ripe tomatoes I was craving. I started to grow my own tomatoes and this eventually led to beans.

My first harvested heirloom bean was Rio Zape. They were pretty and easy to grow but I had no idea what to expect when I cooked them. They were similar to the pintos I liked but there was so much more going on. Hints of chocolate and coffee mixed with an earthy texture made my head spin. I was blown away by Rio Zape and the other heirloom beans I was growing, but also really confused why they were such a big secret. I took the beans to the farmers market, organizing things on my kitchen table. Soon there was a warehouse, followed by more markets and mail order. It seems we had struck a nerve. People agreed that heirloom beans were worth saving, growing and cooking. Currently our warehouse, a retail shop, and offices are in Napa, California, and a stop here is part of many tours of the wine country.

All of my agricultural pursuits have been based on being someone who likes to cook but gets frustrated by the lack of ingredients, especially those that are native to the Americas. One of the things that originally drew me to beans was the fact that they are indigenous to the Americas. It seems to me these indigenous ingredients should be familiar, if not common. American cuisine is re-inventing itself and I'd love to include ingredients, traditions and recipes from north and south of the border as part of the equation. I love the concept of The Americas. I feel as if it's just as important as the European heritage many of us share.
